Making your message memorable - on screen, on DVD, on the Web

Some of the Frequently Asked Questions we hear about video production - especially useful to Video Virgins

That, as they say, is a "How long is a piece of string?" question.

A short, simple video can cost as little as £500, but for an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza, the sky's the limit.

Essentially, a video will cost as much or as little as you want, because you set the budget. And that will be determined by the content you need to achieve the goals you're aiming for.

We'll be happy to help you work out what's best for you, and make sure you don't spend more than you need. Just call us on 01420-561144 for a chat about the various options you could consider.

Yes, yes, we know where you're going with this one! And to a degree, you'd be right. A D-I-Y video is obviously going to be a cheap option - but it may not be the right one. If it looks amateurish, then so will your company.

However, if you have done your own filming and it's turned out well, we'll be happy to edit it together for you, and tweak it to look as good as possible.

The modern choices are DVD, BluRay or digital file, which we can upload to YouTube or another web player of your choice.

We upload a high bit rate High Definition (HD) file to web players which they will convert to the various video stream formats needed for the choice of desktops, tablets and mobile devices.

For the technically minded, we normally output final edits in mpeg4 H264 format. If you need anything else, just call us on 01420-561144

Sony HD cameras and Edius Broadcast editing systems. But the most important of all are eyes, ears, pencil and paper.

We're still recovering from the company's tenth birthday celebrations.

Between them, the principals have over fifty years experience in broadcast TV, corporate video, marketing, advertising and technical wizardry.

We've listed some of our clients here.

It changes like the seasons. From explanatory videos for local authorities, to demonstration and sales videos for products and services, to testimonials for companies and organisations. Our clients list includes descriptions of the projects which you might find helpful.

Generally speaking, we like to produce videos that include an emotive story with which the target audience can identify. It could be about a company and how it serves its customers, about the effectiveness of a service offered, or about the benefits of a new product.

Similarly, we try to personalise training videos, local authority presentations, and the community video work we do for Non Government Organisations (NGO’s) i.e. charities.

In as few words as possible:

1. Pre-Production Planning - define the aim, how to best achieve it within the budget available, write a script if required, plan a list of shots, organise locations and people, and create a filming schedule.

2. Production - the actual filming, either on location, at your premises or in a studio.

3. Post-Production - where it all gets edited together in the right order, with voice-over and/or graphics if required.

Please give us a call and we'll point you in the right direction.

Commercial confidentiality means we can't really go into great detail of any particular project on this public website - would you like your clients to tell your competitors what you were up to?

We've never had this happen - probably because we check with clients at every stage of a project that it's working out as they envisioned it, offer opportunities for correction or other changes, and gain full agreement before moving on to the next stage.

If, after all that, you decide you're not satisfied, we'll endevour to tweak and tweak again until you are.

If we still can't bring a smile to your face, then we'll take a hit for you.

We take staged payments for our work - 30% up front, 30% on completion of filming, and the remaining 40% on completion of edit and delivery. So, if at the end of the filming you are not happy with what we've done or plan to do next, the video material is yours to keep, don’t make any further payments and we will stop work. Your risk is limited to 60% of the budget and you have the material we shot for another company to continue with. As the work will have been customised to you we're not able to refund the money expended up to this stage, especially as freelance crew members will already have been paid.
